Why Provo Tennis?
Tennis deserves a place on the local calendar.
There are plenty of races, leagues, and community sporting events around Provo. We think tennis deserves some too.
This is the first of what we hope becomes a regular series. We’re starting intentionally small: sixteen players, a high-energy format, and one memorable day on the courts.
How it works
Not normal tennis.
Easy to follow.
A match is four short races against the clock. Win three quarters and you win the match.

Who can play?
Recreational through competitive adult players are welcome. This first event is intentionally small and community-focused.
What level should I be?
If you can serve, rally, and keep score, you’ll fit in. Share your level when registering so we can seed thoughtfully.
How does a match work?
Each match has four 6-minute quarters. Every rally is one point, you get one serve, and players alternate serving every two points. Win three quarters to win the match.
What happens when a quarter ends?
Finish the point underway when the timer expires. The leader wins the quarter. If the score is tied, play one deciding point.
What happens at 2–2?
The match goes to sudden death. The first player to win two consecutive points wins the match.
Am I guaranteed more than one match?
Yes. Every player is scheduled for at least two matches, barring weather or withdrawals. A first-round loss moves you into the consolation draw; after your second loss, your tournament is complete.
How long will the tournament take?
Plan for a full day. The format includes 22 matches and is designed around two courts. Exact player start times and the order of play will be sent after the venue is confirmed.
What happens if it rains?
We’ll communicate a reschedule or refund plan by email if weather makes play unsafe.
What should I bring?
A racquet, water, court shoes, sunscreen, and your competitive spirit. We’ll provide fresh balls.
Can I get a refund?
The final refund policy will be shared before payment is collected.
How will I receive my match time?
Match times and final event details will be sent to your registration email.
Is this an official UTS event?
No. This tournament uses a simplified, UTS-inspired format and is not affiliated with UTS.
What does the $35 entry fee cover?
The $35 fee helps players commit to showing up and covers event costs; it is not intended to make a profit. The tournament is budgeted at roughly $600: about $200 for court rental, plus required event insurance, fresh tennis balls, prizes, and basic supplies. Even a full 16-player field brings in only $560.
